Don't blame me, I voted for Grar

Don't you remember Grar? He ran for president back in 2008, against Argbf. Later he became a political pundit on Fox News, I think.

At any rate, I did not watch the State of the Union address last night. I had a really long day and I was famished and, also, Trump.

So, did I miss anything important?

Comments:
Not really. It was just a demonstration of him taking credit for Obama's economic success over the objections of Congressional Rs and saying things that could be interpreted as reaching across the aisle, but were actually fairly divisive. And a whole lot of having people stand and be recognized for suffering or acting heroically.

The speech was good in the sense that those who are not reflexively anti-Trump will, at least superficially, find it pretty reasonable. Trump('s speech writer) successfully bundled his #AmericaFirst rhetoric into an innocuous-sounding list of policy goals that, in any other universe, would have some bipartisan support. What the speech did not have was any meaningful detail. "We want $1.5 trillion in federal/state/local/private infrastructure spending to build gleaming [odd choice of words] new roads!" Ok, how? "We will overcome the opioid scourge!" Great! What's the plan? In the end, it was characteristically Trump--lots of talk, very little show. It's pretty clear that the Republicans plan to survive the midterms on nothing more than the DJIA and tax reform, which strikes me as a bad bet.

But my favorite part, as with every other SoTU, was the carefully honed rage-face of the opposition party. I thought Cory Booker's performance was particularly strong. Also, Paul Ryan did a pretty good job turning a bored yawn into something that looked more like a cough. Well done, Mr. Speaker!

No you didn’t! Now, can someone please explain to me what the hell is “beautiful clean coal?”

Beautiful clean coal is what you use to make the roads gleam. Maybe.
