Sunday Reflection: The value of wilderness
In such a crowded world, wilderness is a luxury. When managed well, though, it is a luxury available to all, and that is something too rare these days as recreational space is locked up behind the gates of golf clubs and billionaire's mountain reserves.
Over the past few years, wilderness has been threatened by all kinds of new encroachments, usually in the form of something viewed as giving economic value to that land.
But isn't there a problem with everything being about economics? Is that the only kind of richness we recognize?
It would seem that Christians should be able to see the value of preserving God's creation, even if money could be made by destroying it.
