Campaign 2024 off to kind of a slow start

It's officially February-- just one year until the primaries begin-- and the presidential campaign is off to a surprisingly sluggish start. Donald Trump has announced his candidacy but has kinda been dogging it so far, and there are rumors that Nikki Haley will announce soon, but other than that we aren't seeing much action other than reports of the usual visits to Iowa and New Hampshire by various governors and sentators. It could be that Trump's early announcement has frozen the field-- no one wants to be the first to seem to be making a move against him, perhaps-- or maybe potential candidates are evaluating one another at a deeper level. In the 2016 cycle, the first batch of candidates announced in March of 2015-- so maybe we will get a clearer picture soon, and this really isn't such a late start.

On the Democratic side, I'm surprised (but glad) that Joe Biden has not announced his re-election bid yet. Many of us hope he will not stand for re-election... but that still seems unlikely.

Who makes the next move?
