First day of school
This is it-- today is my first day back at school! I'm nervous and excited.
There were some great haiku on that topic last week. My favorite was this one, from my dad:
Every morning
I wake knowing every
day is a school day
Aging drains your brain,
leaves room for new ideas
and fortunately
I am surrounded
by teachers and subjects to
be pondered anew.

IPLawGuy excelled, too:
Back to school daughters!
Let's go buy your school supplies!
No more. High School now :(

As did Jill Scoggins:
First class day: Campus
shakes summer sleep with students
lively, eager, thrilled.
Best day of my work
year. At no other time are
they as impassioned.
You feel the pulse of
excitement that only new
learning can create.

I knew EXACTLY what the Medievalist was talking about:
New pink eraser,
Smells like paper and pencils,
Twelve new crayons.
Smells like paper and pencils,
Twelve new crayons.
And Amy Garrou got to the heart of things:
It’s the hope, the turn
To something new; fresh story;
Possibility.
