PMT: A message from the "House Conservatives"
For whatever reason, by spam file at work is filled up every day with fund-raising appeals to conservatives from an array of Republicans: Newt Gingrich, Tim Scott, Donald Trump, Jr., etc. Every once in a while, I roll through them to see what is going on with the GOP.
And... it makes me sad. The fund-raising appeals have certain things in common, which must work:
-- They often claim that Donald Trump is "waiting" for the recipient's response and will personally be disappointed if money isn't given.
-- They frequently claim some ridiculous "match" of your donation by an anonymous donor; yesterday they said it was a "13x" match. Really?
-- About as often as they use trigger phrases like "Critical Race Theory," they insult the reader by calling them a "RINO" or a "loser" for not giving money already.
One of the appeals in the batch I saw yesterday (from "House Conservatives") had this subject line:
"Are you a major loser? FWD: SAD! Every time we asked, you DECLINED. Will you join Trump's social media site?"
Below that was this message:
| You MISSED our last message, Fellow Conservative. Humbly asking for one final time: Will you be the first to join Trump’s social media site?  YES - I STAND WITH TRUMP NO - I SUPPORT BIG TECH |
| Trump needs to know you have his back. True patriots will respond. Deserters will ignore. You have 10 minutes. It's all there in a few words: bullying. Gaslighting. Bizarre time limits. A promised direct connection to Trump.  Sad? Yes. |

Oh, I get these all day every day. I tried to get off the lists, but that only makes them multiply. My favorites "Are you still a Republican?" and "Do you still support President Trump?"
I get them from the Democrats too. But its a different tone. While the Republican fundraisers use guilt and shame the Democrats use sorrow and loss. "WE WILL LOSE WITHOUT YOU." or "We're HORRIFIED."

Either way, pretty manipulative. I only get a few Dem ones, and they are very Minnesotan ("So, it might be that we are in a bit of a pinch...").
