Hoover

I became interested in Herbert Hoover after finding that he granted nearly 1200 clemencies during his one term in office, at regular intervals. He was a talented, flawed, and complicated man who is probably unfairly and too-simply treated by history.

Comments:
I've always loved Hoover. The Great Humanitarian. The Great Engineer. Caleb and I visited the library and museum in West Branch two summers ago. He and Lou's lovely graveside rest on a well-manicured rise on the property. From the hill you can see the shack in which he was born. All designed to make one reflect on the American dream: in American you can get here from there.
