Footprints in the snow

I really liked the Medievalist's haiku from last Friday:

Walking in the snow,
I leave a track upon which
I will not return.

In part, I like it because of its ambiguity-- where is he going? Does "I will not return" mean the snow will be gone, or he won't be back?

Comments:
Again, thanks for providing such a lovely forum for poetry. I am a reluctant poet at best. Thanks.
