USA! USA!
This Women's World Cup has been more closely watched than previous versions all over the world as the sport has developed an international following despite a continuing bias against women's sports in some countries, including many where soccer is a huge sport.
For whatever reason, I find this kind of competition a lot easier to care about than, say, the British Premier League, which has a big following at the bar down the street from my school. Perhaps that's because of the national identities in play, or the rarity of it.
Did anyone see the semifinal game?

I did!!! And it was great, the Americans were good (even though more midfield play would have spared my voice a bit) they were relentless (outran the Germans to exhaustion) they were focused and the drama (or I should say the blood) was real... unlike the tiresome antics one sees in the European major leagues. And that miss by Sasic (the most unfortunate pronunciation result) spoke all there is to say about the pressure the Americans generated. I hope this team wins the cup because they're good and it looks like they worked hard to deserve being best.
