Haiku Friday: Summer car trips

What is more of a memorable event than a summer car trip? Let's haiku about those today. Here, I will go first:

We didn't always have
An actual destination,
The road just took us.

Now it is your turn! Make it 5 syllables/7syllables/5 syllables, and have some fun!

Comments:
Epic trip out West
Blue Ford Country Squire wagon
Squabbling kids inside

Death Valley breakdown
My dad walked to get some help
Hero in the heat.

I saw the ocean
For the very first time from
The back of a van.

This trip, we walked
Step after step, forever
Behind us, just flames.

We drove to Cleveland
one Sunday morning to watch
a baseball game, fun

To Colorado,
In August, across the plains,
Sweating all the way.
