Political Mayhem Thursday: What state would you not want to live in?

This is a remarkably diverse country.  I have spent my adult life in three very different states:  Michigan, Texas, and Minnesota.  I know that some people think Minnesota and Michigan are similar because they both start with "M" and are in the midwest, but the thousands of people who moved from Michigan to Minnesota would disagree.

Is there a state you would not want to live in?  Why not?

Comments:
I loved my time in Michigan (9 years) and my visits there since. I also liked the time I spent in Ohio and in South Texas. Free to choose, I would be in the Appalachians somewhere, HC, VA, MD, PA, or farther up the East Coast. But I will probably make my next move to somewhere near my grandchildren!

I'm in the northern Appalachians now, and it is lovely.

I'm on the market for a faculty position, and I consciously avoid looking in CA and New England because the cost of living is so high. My modest, 4br home with a big yard in Central Texas would easily cost 5x as much for something comparable (sans yard) in Boston (I just skimmed a realtor site to verify).

I´ve lived in Minnesota, Vermont, Texas, and Spain. I like the northern climates because I´m not a creature of the heat, so Texas, though lovely, is too hot for four months a year. Central Spain is also very nice, but July is hell. I could move back to Minnesota anytime.

I have lived in Michigan, Ohio, New York City, Florida and North Carolina.

Michigan was a great place to grow up and is now a great place to visit during the summer months.

I enjoy passing through Ohio.

North Carolina is growing on my after 5 years but I still prefer the west central coast of Florida.

As to where I have no interest in living... flat dry climates or cold climates. So that eliminates the SW US, The Central and mountain states and definitely Alaska.

Coastal Maine is lovely and more temperate.

Ultimately I desire to live somewhere with no more than 3 seasons (winter not being one of them) and lots of sunshine. Living is a state of depression and season effective disorder are not in my cards.

What State would I not want to live in?

Any State not named "Texas"

Why?

Because those States aren't Texas. Duh.

I believe RRL has submitted the correct answer.

Oregon or Washington -- no thank you.

RRL, Texas is not a state. Texas is a whole different country.

Point for Marta
