It is time for new shoes...
This winter has been pretty rough on Osler shoes-- I've had three pairs suffer catastrophic failure in the last few weeks, including a pair of boots I have had for about 20 years that suddenly just gave up and shredded.
I'm open to suggestions...

The best shoes I have found for standing and wearing all day are "restaurant worker shoes" which cost about $30 a pair a Walmart, look like good black dress shoes, have non-skid, oil resistant soles, and you can stand in them all day. Take a good shine easily. Mine look almost identical to the $90 dress shoes I bought just before them.
for boots - head to the REI or LLBean on-line catalogues. I have found some great boots at REI on the dale rack. YOu might also consider a pair of snow shoes. I just bought a pair for future use.
Marta, like these? (Made in Minnesota!)

Those look very fetching Prof! On a second thought, since you only buy shoes every twenty years I have to say the Medievalist’s suggestion looks a lot more versatile.
Those Mukluks are very fashionable - moosehide and all. Definitely need to spend the extra 12.95 for the water repellant spray.
