Haiku Friday: Getting Ready for Christmas

It's Advent, which has its own meaning, tradition, and songs, but within the larger culture this month is usually considered the "Christmas season."  Regardless of what you call it, it is the time we have to get ready for Christmas with parties, tree decoration, and shopping.

Let's haiku about all of that!  What are you busy doing?

Here is mine:

I'm hoarding music
To make the right Christmas mix:
Trending towards jazz.

Now it is your turn!  This is a broad category, so have fun with it, and use the 5 syllable/7 syllable/5 syllable formula o' fun!

Comments:
Frost on the pumpkin,
Means that the year is ending,
Christmas is here.

Ah yes! The time when
The fire department burns wreaths.
WTF, Osler?!?

Got two new kittens:
keep them away from the tree!
What was I thinking?!?

Foos Challenge '08
Prof slips me unmarked CD
Never felt so hip

Sparkly home-made joy,
a warmth reserved for this time
of bleak mid-winter.

ps - don't forget to share the Christmas mix.I've been listening to last year's for a week!

First time in my life
Christmas has no meaning
Weird to sit it out.

Sunfish backward swims
a creek knifeblade cold solid

Little by little
It comes.The pitcher of greens.
Angels,children's books.

Creche with no bebe.
Yet.The village on mantle.
We want to be race-cars.

Christmas decelerates us.
We are made to discover
snowflake on window

Perfumed Frazier fir.
Fudge hidden in a coffee
Can.Basement freezer.

Last year's peppermint
In the toe of my stocking.Good!
A robin who didn't leave.

A card from a friend
Thought lost.Her face shining,and
Love strong.Miracles.

Lobster,cognac and
Pasta.Where is my recipe?
Firenze, I smell

Christmas cooking.Faces
Of the hungry birds yearning
For sustenance.

In her nightdress Mama
Drinks cappuccino.Papa
Reaches for her hand.

They have been married
For so long they cannot
Imagine sleep solo.

This time of year I
Always want to go home. I
Don't know where that is.

The tree was scraggly,
The pageant was quite a bust
Cooperation???

Then, realization.
Decorations don't matter
Nor do sparkly things.

Linus got it right
When he spoke the words we love.
It's about Jesus.
