Painkiller problems...
Clay Harris sent me a link to this great series in the Fayetteville, North Carolina paper about painkillers. It tells the story of the newest, worst drug in rural American.
What is challenging is that fighting it will take new tactics-- since the drug at issue is legal. What should we try?

Wow! No comments on the painkiller issue? Perhaps this is more sensitive than you might know. "Students" have told me that it is not unusual to "sell" any remaining pills they have from a prescription that they do not use--somebody is always interested in buying. This is the great undocumented black market of illicit drugs, and it's nice, educated, well-off, kids who are doing it--not nasty drug dealers. There are deaths, and near deaths, but we just aren't going to talk about this, okay?
