Haiku Friday: State Capitals

State capitals... remember having to memorize them?  Probably (if you are like me) you remember the process more than the actual capitals.  Still, this is the challenge for today... let's haiku about our favorite state capitals!  (or, cities you might mistakenly think is a capital).

Here is mine:

Really, guys?  "Pierre?"
That's the name of a capital?
Bring me more chislik.

Now it is your turn.... the recipe is 5 syllables/7 syllables/5 syllables, and it's both easy and fun!

Comments:
New York City, though not a capital
Love it anyway
Longing for another trip

Tallahassee yet?
It's a dreadfully long drive,
but very lovely!

They sling the fish,like
Paper airplanes.Tipped full rain
Barrels crowd the sky.

The ivy grew kudzu
Trees always wore soggy britches
No rain romance then.

But when the sun came
It was Paradise.Shimmerlake
Moonstones.Rainier thrill.

Big rectangle on
a hill. Farmer's mart below.
Ryman, music close.

Going to work at
the capital in St. Paul.
A great first law gig.

Beautiful building
but far from good eating. The
drive was long and caused speeding.

Supreme Court cases
and vases and places. My
first job up on the hill.

Have you ever had
A Bismarck when in NoDak?
Capital dining.

Hope to receive a
Large diamond in Little Rock?
Not in the cards, Hon.

Did you rally in
Raleigh, North Carolina?
It’s a swing state now.

Phoenix can not rise?
Flaming heat requires AC
In Arizona.

When you dance in Spring,
Fields bloom in Illinois, and
In your heart and soul.

in response to Rebecca:

~*~*~
A noose reappears
Raleigh, N Carolina
A swing state no more

Red state emerges
gun shots ping, rat,a,tat,tat
Us Blues are bleed'in

OK Capitol
Working oil well on the lawn
Someday a wind farm?

My favorite cap-
ital is Montpelier.
A felicitous name.

Oh you grand St. Paul,
City of rivers and ice,
Snoopy and Peanuts.

I stood in Trevi
One moonlit night a boy
Touched my lips with dreams.

The Sistine Chapel
A holy muralled helmet
Over our heads,we prayed

That only beauty
Would grace our eyes. It was a
Request God refused.

And so we stood where
Lions ate men;men killed men.Amid
Cheers.Different now,Friend?

Orange burning day
Waiter brought limoncello
Mad violin echo.

Now Francis abides.
Can one be humble in such
A grand house? God smiles.

In response to Christine --

Me? Your muse this week?

I think this is your most excellent haiku in the few weeks I've been coming to Osler's Razor. Of course, you are closer to the truth on NC for now, but I have Hope, as in Arkansas.

Met Sal at cheese case
Willy Street Co-op.Smelling
Vaguely of garlic.

She wore red short shorts
And a muscle shirt. She was
Irresistable.

Something edgy in
The way she commanded me
To buy Havarti.

Listen Osler--

I knew he would bring
This up.I was minding my
Own business. Then engaged.

Left me at altar
In Madison. Took up with
College floozie State Street.

Geoffrey...you suck. This
is Sally-ku: Jump in Lake
Mendota.You jerk!

Oh, crazy crazy Madison!

Georgia O'Keefe Makes The Case for
Taos

I flew into the
Sex of petunia drenched in
Purple majesty.

I saw the living
And the dead both as gifts--
Making art as love.

So that is what I
Painted: Skulls alabaster
Huge Scarlet Poppies!

Arroyo green-brown
Azure meeting layers large
Taos fed my lonely.

Wide angles of my face
The deer's white head.
Lily's white curve.Me.
