Haiku Friday: Middle school

How bad can middle school get?  Well, that's me there on the right.

I really can't explain the haircut.  I think maybe it just took on the shape of the inside of my hockey helmet over the course of a long winter.

At any rate, let's haiku about middle school today.  It can be anything related to your middle school experience:  Dodgeball, clothes you wore to school, that one kid you knew who ate weird stuff, whatever.  Indulge yourself!

Here is mine:

Would have been better
Just to go live on a farm
For those two long years.

Now it is your turn!  I look forward to some illuminating entries.

Comments:
NOT QUITE HIGH ENOUGH
NOR YET ELEMENTARY
TOO MUCH BETWEEN SCHOOL

Sharing Izod shirts
Tying bows on my Oxford shirts
The Preppy Handbook!

Great friends, first kisses
Skating, movies, sleepovers
All innocent fun.

Different high schools
Lost touch, made new friends and still
The memories true.

Poor unfortunate
Ralph. His crew cut buzzed by Mad
Mom. Waist under armpits.

Thought I was JackieK...
Pretty...cultured until my
Kotex hit sidewalk.

What would Jackie do?
It turns out she would walk tall...
Right past it. Gazelle.

Renee - I almost spit my coffee on my laptop. Thanks for the smile and giggle this morning.

I did a home perm
I thought it would take focus
Off my ears -- it did!:(

Then mohair sweaters
My rival David,Sock hops.
Now,how my hands shake...

My friend Aspegren
It never occured to me
to say Aspergum

A Juke Box in the
Cafeteria. Hollies
Long Dark Road. It was.

Ya jumped on my toe
In Schottisch,felt me up in
Waltz.Looked down my blouse.

In the two-step,talked dirty...
I preferred schmaltz.Still...
Ya had cute smile...ass,

I mean,you ass! Geoff.
I still smell Old Spice
In air. I don't care.

By the way,IPLawGuy,nice haiku. Very nice. Can u dance? Just wondering.

Listen,Osler--mind if I call ya Prince Valiant? Kinda fits,ya get my drift....? a little blue cheese on that wedge...or a pillow for that pageboy? That's the funniest thing I saw all mornin. Maybe all year

Oh, Jessica - I could relate to your perm fiasco! :/

Fine, thin, straight hair - sigh.
No amount of Aqua-Net
could make it poofy!

I choose to forget
those years, except for riding
bikes to school with friends :)

Remember that guy
Who peaked in seventh grade?
5'10" and full beard?

He sure knew how to
Throw his weight around...wonder
What he is doing now.

We didn't let him
sit at the "cool" table; now
he's an ophthalmologist.

-Robert Johnson

My fuzzy pink dress
The talk of the 6th grade dance
Unfortunate choice!

Amidst no learning,
Awkwardness, family life hell.
Some friendships blossomed.

Park rats all year.
Riding bikes :), a bit of summer
Offered me comfort.

Back handsprings, cartwheels,
Along bookcase. Look!
So unlike shy me.

Yet somehow I learned
that like me, she wore a badge:
a motherless daughter.

I wasn't alone!
How I needed that friendship.
Sisters forever.

Sally. Many moons
Ago and you still think of
Me.Dancing.Come back

To me My Little
Deuce Coupe.I miss parts
Of you too.Wild Thing.

Went to Catholic School
Didn't have no middle school -
Wonder what I missed.

Marcello was tall
Gold latte skin.His eyes told
Sky,it was not blue.

He sat behind me
And dipped my tawny braid in
Ink.No I said.Yes!

Summer by the pool
I looked for his hand...it was
Already in mine.

He finally asked
Me to dance."Let's do the twist."
Succulent grapes ripe.

A funny hair cut,
And skinny beyond belief,
I was a big nerd.
