The end of days

Crikeys, I'm ready for this election to be over!

CNN has a show running right now that features 32 people all yelling at the same time, like some kind of dada lecture nightmare.

Down in Florida, there is the truly dispiriting prospect of another botched election, with people struggling to register their vote.

Tomorrow, it promises to be a long night before we really know the results.

It's times like this that I turn to the worst song of all time: "Lady L," from the long-lost and tragically short-lived TV show "Freaks and Geeks."

Comments:
Worst song of all time? Are you counting this as a song?

Any election predictions, Professor?

Yes, CTL!

1) I do think President Obama will be re-elected.

2) In MN, I suspect that the marriage amendment will fail and the Voter ID amendment may pass.

3) In Texas, the referendum requiring the carrying of guns in schools and church will probably pass, as will the mandatory coal home heating amendment to the state constitution, and the amendment mandating the death penalty for all felonies.

Are you projecting, then, the failure of Texas' ballot initiative to enforce the death penalty for traffic violators who are not carrying concealed weapons and who are unable to produce a state issued ID (excluding, of course, school IDs)?

What do you think about the MN referendum adopting a gluten ban and requiring all kindergarteners to undergo non-abstinence-based sex education? And what was that I heard about the Minneapolis-St. Paul joint proposition to characterize all "singly born cities" as "inferior and fundamentally wrongheaded."

I didn't know about that other TX initiative!

As for MN, you have it wrong-- the proposal would mandate gluten-free food to be served at the (already existing) non-abstinence sex education programs.

On the unfortunate handicap of not having a twin city... that's already in the State Constitution, right above the part about ice hockey.

When I saw today's post was titled "The end of days," I thought you were writing about today's PC I final at Baylor. There's an election today, too?

@Osler,

Thanks for the info!

I agree, by the way, with you prediction about the outcome of the presidential election. The way Romney has been campaigning in Virginia, Florida, and--for whatever reason--Pennsylvania indicates that he also agrees. I suspect, though, that while the electoral margin for President Obama will likely be strong, the popular vote will be within a point or so on either side.
