Haiku Friday: Favorite Presidents

GOP Introduces New "Mystery Candidate" With Paper Bag Over Head

Perhaps I have politics on the brain, but I have always liked an old-fashioned debate on the relative merits of our national leaders. Let's haiku on that today! I will go first:

Michael Scott was clear:
His number one president?
Benjamin Franklin!

Feel free to haiku about any president-- past, present, or future (ie, Robosaorus). The winner, as usual, wins the prize of their bio here on Monday.

Comments:
John Quincy Adams,
only because his name has
just five syllables.

Budget surplus plus
'I feel your pain' makes Bill my
fave despite the blue dress

~Abe~

He lost much:mother,
First love,elections,dear sons.
Sad war of brothers: won?

Born in rude cabin
Taught himself to read,practiced
Law,made jokes and friends

Married plump dove Belle
Whose mind rode the edge
As did his in grief.

Cultivated minds--
Listened to enemies,put
Them in Cabinet.

Noble mind,great heart--
Every soldier boy's death caused
Abe Thunder of pain

As he sat at Ford's,
Respite moment,end of war,
O noble head...shot dead.

He had such plans: Damn!
Plans of kindliness,no
Revenge. To build up.

He the immortal
I want to meet in Glory .
Hold his big hand.Talk.

Chester A. Arthur
Never sought Presidency
But he did OK

Outshone by Teddy
Poor dead William McKinley
Stable and Solid

First Term G. Cleveland
Made tough choices, did not pander
Lost election.

James K. Polk, one term:
Texas, Oregon. Cannot
Forgive slave views though.

Virginia's Monroe
cleaned up Madison's war mess
"Era-Good Feelings"

Feel sorry for him
William Henry Harrison
Speaks in rain...and dies.

Zachary Taylor
Southern Whig and Union Man
Last chance to stop war?

Warren G. Harding
Could not clean up Teapot Dome
Because he was dead

Nice guy Gerry Ford
Up against hostile Congress
Did the best he could

Best fact you need to
know re: R. B. Hayes, his wife,
Lemonade Lucy

Dwight Eisenhower
Our only four syllable
President so far

IPLawguy, presidents scholar
Deserves a bio up here

Truman said "The World
is run by C Students." He
was My Kinda Prez.

Butif we could have a Dream Ticket this time I say we bring back Clinton with Michael Scott as VP. Dwight Schrute - head of CIA.

Set the precedent
For presidents yet to come
All hail Washington

Restored hungry us
hungry for jobs,food,from a
Body that did not work.

The Poor Man's Friend cared
From the lap of luxury,
Traitor to his class: FDR.

Married a cousin
Who had the brain but not looks
Eleanor spoke worth.

In lover's bed Hot Springs
He died.Mother remembered
Telling neighbors news.
Bringing the news.

But twenty-two and four.
