Poetry Cavalcade 20: Fortune Teller



He turned the first card, and
We all looked up sharply.

He could have stopped there,
For one truth was enough.

Comments:
This sounds like a moment in a Wendell Berry novel, like if Burley Coulter went to the county fair and had his affair exposed.
