Music drought

Every few years I go through a drought where I can't seem to find any good music to download. I am in one now.

Help me out! What is there, fresh and new, that I should be listening to? Genre is not an obstacle... (and please, nothing by anyone in the above video)

Comments:
The new one by the Len Price Three, or the new Doughboys CD... or either one's earlier CD.

Them Crooked Vultures

almost anything by Rancid

Left here on behalf of a friend:

If you're looking for some good solid rock, I suggest Show Me How To Live by Audioslave, or perhaps Them Crooked Vultures' new album.

the music isn't new but my boss got me into his friend's band, "the old 97's" and i really enjoy that so far. his friend also does solo stuff so you should check out rhett miller.

with rancid, you need to get maxwell murder.

the decline by nofx is an awesome song.

don't download blind; Stream. slacker radio is the best. if you are familiar with pandora, slacker is better in the sense that it has a bigger music library. If you want some guidance, start with the seed song of Last Night by The Strokes.
And if you dig edie brickel's post bohemian vibe, check out Gasoline Stain by Lindsay Jane - you can download that blind.

The old 97s is a great band.

I like Michael Buble's new stuff.

eric clapton has a new song "i've got a rock n roll heart" which reminds me of the 90s.

I like the stuff from Muse including the now overplayed song "Uprising"

"1901" by Phoenix

Technology truly has become completely integrated to our existence, and I think it is safe to say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory drops, the possibility of downloading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.

Stuff I liked from last year:

Julian Casablancas - Phrazes for the Young
Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures
Girls - Album
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Animal Collective -Both "Merriweather Post Pavillion" and "Fall be Kind"

And if none of that strikes a chord, go to this website: http://www.teasearecords.net/wuvsbeatles

Download that album. It is better than you might think.

It isn't new, but I've been listening to a lot of New Pornographers lately, specifically the "Electric Version" record. Good stuff.

The Arctic Monkeys' record from last year, "Humbug", was pretty good as well.

Just a few thoughts.

I like the lyricism and catchy pop hooks of Katy Perry. Especially her smash hit, I kissed a girl.

I suggest the new Midlake album, "The Courage of Others." Midlake got their start in Denton at the University of North Texas.

I've really enjoyed listening to "The Courage of Others" since NPR began streaming it last week, and I purchased it yesterday.

Also, I'll throw in another recommendation for Them Crooked Vultures.

Nothing new, but stuff I like:
Grace Potter--Apologies
The Killers--Spaceman
Crash Test Dummies--God Shuffled His Feet and Swimming in Your Ocean
Casey Berry and The Texas Mosquitos--I Know a Liar
Spoon--The Underdog

PS--Couple of thoughts on the We Are The World video:
1) Bruce Springsteen looks a bit constipated.
2) You would have never thought that Michael Jackson would be one of the first in the group to go.
3) Who invited Dan Aykroyd?

Absolutely, Them Crooked Vultures. I still haven't recovered from it.

Pinback - very lyrical and solid rock, gets you in a good groove for working. Try making a Pinback Pandora station.

Don't listen to anyone but me. You need to bring the rock, and hard. Go get fellow Texans The Sword's first two albums, "Age of Winters" and "Gods of the Earth."

Lately, I have been listening to John Coltrane, Brahms, and Leonard Cohen.

I like RR's link but was supremely disappointed that among 2 guitars and one mandolin there were no solos. All songs need a guitar solo.

Wow! Lots of good ideas!
