Oh, for Heaven's sake, William and Mary!

My alma mater, William and Mary, is currently searching for a new mascot to replace the bumbling incumbent, "Colonel Ebirt." They have announced five finalists (in order of apparent relevance):

1) The King and Queen (because William and Mary were, you know, like, the King and Queen of England)

2) The Wren (because the oldest building on campus was designed by Sir Christopher Wren)

3) The Pug (is this suggesting that many students at William and Mary are physically unattractive?)

4) The Phoenix (because, um, old people in Phoenix inexplicably love to decorate their homes with a "Williamsburg" theme)

5) The Griffin (huh... well... hmmmm.... because Virginians loved Carter-era AG Griffin Bell?)

Surely, Razorites, we can come up with something, anything, better than this...

Comments:
The Griffin does look like a lawyer...

The meerkat, Billy Mays, Larry Bates, the rubber chicken, a pizza delivery guy. I understand none of those things have any connection to the school whatsoever. I didn't think it matters.

I LOVE the King and Queen! My only question: how did it take so long to come up with that?

It has everything: history, cuteness, gender equity. Excellent!

Prof. Osler,

Unrelated to William and Mary, but related to your sentencing research:

What is this Hogworts?
The Wren is the best out of the 5 options, but..

How about the Shamwow guy?

Are you watching Community? It's a hilarious show that already had to deal with this issue.

The college embraced a new mascot, "the human being," which is a featureless, genderless, horrific image.

The William and Mary Oslers. The mascot is a guy in a sports coat with patched elbows, holding a Razor in one hand and a a copy of Black's Law in the other.

How about a big orange because William and Mary they were William and Mary of Orange?
