Poetry Cavalcade 2009: Poem 8
How I Get Through the Channel Without Hitting Rocks
To get through the channel
Look up, not down
An arc between landmarks
And slow, steady pace.
If you look down (don't),
Down into the water
You see every boulder and
Monster and trap
That plagued a whole family
In years light and dark.
The silver on boulders--
It came from our boats.
