Texas Death Camp
It is over 100 degrees every day this week. I think we all are going to die soon here. Send water.

My car thermometer read 107. It is a sad day when even I say it is too hot to be outside!
We hit Schlitterbahn last week, it was a blast!

OK, I was going to ask the obviusly stupid question - what is Schlitterbahn? But the wonderful internet has informed me - water park. Sounds like a good place to visit during a heat wave.
Now my real question - why would something in Texas be called Schlitterbahn? I wold expect such a name in Germany.

Christine, German is one of the most-spoken languages in Texas right behind English and Spanish. Central Texas was settled by a great many German immigrants, and in fact, Texas German is a recognized dialect of the language.
/Pedantry off.
On another note, we have a Schlitterbahn about 10 blocks from me but I haven't been yet. And on that, I'm going out to fish in the surf.

Christine, Lane is quite right, but what he failed to mention is that SB is like the red neck Club Med. It rocks, there are kids and people of all shapes and size and color (although mostly red in color) eating turkey legs and floating in the water and drinking wine based frozen drinks and Bud Light in a huge hot tub overlooking the kiddiebahn or whatever quasi-Germanic name they tack onto their waterscapes.
The rides are okay, but the real draw is the melting pot goodness of it all. If you are ever in the Austin area, I would be glad to take you for a tour! I think Lane is near the newer nicer Bahn, but we have the original in New Braunfels, plus Pat's Place for the best cheeseburger and sweet potato french fries...mmm.

I'll take you up on that sometime. Visit any interesting swimming holes lately (beside the bahn)?
I may need to go sit in my pond later to cool off - just me, the tadpoles and the frogs. And perhaps a nice cool mircobrew.

It's been over 100 degrees in San Antonio for many days. Wearing a suit is inhumane. I need a court holiday.
It never really gets that hot OR humid here in Oregon. It also hardly EVER snows. It rains constantly but I am used to it and I love it now.
I never want to live anywhere else. Texas seems to have a lot of personality and sounds like really good food. However I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Oregon. Even though your house might blow up.
I CANNOT BELIEVE Michael Jackson has died.
