You, reviewer!

If you have had a chance to read "Jesus On Death Row," please write a review over on Amazon.com. It can be good or bad, but please don't use any of the following words:

Tomfoolery
Stinkbomb
Revile
Portly
Blabberhanded
Gout

Comments:
Did the text of the blather on this blog change for anyone else?

What tomfoolery is afoot?

My review is almost done, so what about the following:

Bamboozled

Chicanery

Thinning

Knucklehead

Befuddling

How about:

-A real "bodice ripper"

-Bewitching

-Romantic

-Gritty

-"Oprah Worthy"

Bamboozled is a great word

I like OPRAH WORTHY. I could tell you a very funny story about reviewing books on Amazon but it might be boring to you....and it has nothing to do with anything...but when has that ever stopped me???

Ok so I used to review all of the stupid Princess Diana books that I had read, back when I was obsessed with Princess Diana. I reviewed a lot of them on Amazon and My husband used to review his friends' music cds that they occasionally put out. I am not sure how it happened, but one of his friends went on Amazon to read the review Bill wrote about his CD and get this... under BILL's NAME were all the reviews for all of the Princess Diana books I had done. SO you would have all these great insightful music cd reviews from Bill, all about tone and nuance and music blah blah blah and then, among them, there were ALSO ones that said stuff like "THIS was the BEST PRINCESS DIANA book I have EVER READ, and I have read them all!" or "I cried all the way through!" or "Even though the author was her Spiritual Advisor and psychic, it felt as if they were really great friends!"

Took Bill a LOOOOONG time to live that one down with his friends. It was worse than the time that Bill had taken my phone instead of his one time, and he was talking to a bunch of friends, and my phone rang in his pocket. They were like; "Dude. Please do not tell me that your phone's ringtone is the theme to Charlie's Angels.."

He tried to tell them it was MY phone but they still tease him about it.

HARD to be married to me, I think. Poor Bill.

ANYWAY that was a long story that had NOTHING to do with your book, which is probably AMAZING.

Tyd, LOL

Iplaw, "bodice ripper"? ... Now I gots to buy it.

What about "ginned up"?

I'm going to call it a "whiskey-soaked train ride to death row and back, with an author who shows you how a true Texas Cowboy brings two guns a-blazing to every chapter whether he's talking about eyewitness testimony or clemency. Saddle up, academia- you're in for a hell of a ride!"

I should probably read it first, though.

I'm reading it now. The most surprising bit so far has been seeing my name in print. How am I supposed to live off the grid now?

Nancy Grace calls it: "The Feel Good Hit of the Summer."

Jeffrey Toobin said, "Meet the Jesus you only thought you knew."

So you mean I can't post this on Amazon:

"Professor Osler makes it clear that those who revile the death penalty engage in a particular mental tomfoolery which ignores the truth, a truth as insidious as the proverbial stinkbomb: that the One they worship was a victim of the legal practice they blabberhandedly support.

"Already the ranks of death penalty supporters in the US are thinning. Support on the Supreme Court has waned, through no chicanery but with the passage of time and the realization that the death penalty is like a case of gout: bloating an already portly, bulging prison system and befuddling all those who argue that it deters crime. Christians who support the death penalty won't be bamboozled by Professor Osler's unmistakably clear prose. The knuckleheads will, at the conclusion of his book, be left scratching their heads at how they could possibly have believed otherwise."

Whaddaya think?

Actually I like Justin T's better.

And Tyd's story is terrific . . .

And I just realized I used "revile" wrong! Obviously it's not ready for Amazon.

Someone else will have to take up the challenge . . .

Justin T--

Note that I added part of your review to the title of the blog...

OK so I will post them:

Just for entertainment purposes;

Here is Bill's review of his friend Tim's CD.

"Great compositions that range from beautiful, poignant, and soulful to driving and passionate filled with tension. Much like a great painting, novel, or even film, they not only tell a story but also take you along for the ride. On top of all this he has forged himself a unique guitar style that has a heritage in the great modern guitarists (Frisell, Abercrombie, Scofield, Holdsworth) the foundation of the older masters(Jim Hall, Joe Pass) yet is not afraid to move on. There are elements of many styles present, but in the same way that Jazz, Rock, Classical, Afro-Cuban, Calypso and Reggae all contain influences of other styles. In the end, this is not Jazz. It is not Rock. It is definitely not Fusion. It is rare that you find music that has the depth, complexity and nuance of established idioms yet simultaneously defies all current labels, Volpicella's music does just that."

OK and then you like read like all the reviews from this person and its all under - like they are all under ALL my name or ALL Bill's , ok?

and this is the next review:

BILL's review of the movie STARTING OVER with Burt Reynolds and Candace Bergen:

" I wish I could buy the soundtrack, So I could hear all of those crazy songs Candace Bergen sings!!! This is one of my favorite movies of all time!"

then it gets even worse:

(this Princess Diana book BILL Really liked he gave it FIVE STARS!!!):
"A fascinating look into the post Charles world of Diana!!!

After having read several books on the subject of Diana, I found this one to be quite good, and believable as well. Ms. Simmons claims to have been Diana's sort of healer, spiratual consultant, and therapist. They spent a lot of time together, and the author describes these times, as she tells us what she did for the late princess and how she tried to help her. She also tells us how the Princess grew during the time she knew her, emotionally and spiritually and in other ways. I found the book to be at once credible, poignant and fascinating, if you can get past all the new age stuff. For example, the princess asks the author to come over and rid the rooms in Kensington Palace of evil spirits, something like this. And there is much talk about Diana's love of aromatherapy, etc. however, I have no doubt that the things written about are true, simply because the author states at the outset that she was an employee, and not one of Diana's best friends. Because she was not among Diana's exclusive circle, she seemed to see more of what really happened than others. It is clear she cared much about the Princess, and was a confidante. SHe tells much about Diana's relationships with Charles, Dr. Kahn and James Hewitt. SHe writes intelligently, and I think this is as close as the everyday person could actually come to being friends with Diana. Though I question her loyalty to the memory of Diana ( SHOULD she have written it?) I did find it very interesting and credible, especially compared with the many other blatently exploitative books out now. I found her description of how she preferred to remember Diana at the end especially moving and - I cried again for the woman the world lost at such a young age, and at a time when she seemed to finally be able to really help others. Who knows what she could have done and become? Anyway, I liked this book, and I have read Many other bad ones."

Yeah. Bill is a fan of good music, but he REALLLLLLY loves his Princess Diana books.

It took a LONG time for him to stop being annoyed at me for that.
ooops.

Well now that you all know how Bill feels about Princess Diana, I think I will go to sleep.

None of these words come to mind, but I have only made it to page 50.
