Christmas traditions...

Here in Detroit, we are getting things ready for tomorrow. Like a lot of families, this holiday is thick with traditions for us, and that is part of what makes it all special. It may sound silly, but one of my favorite things about Christmas is my Mom's egg/sausage breakfast casserole. I suppose I could make it any time I want, but I don't, and never will. It's a Christmas thing.

Comments:
The kids look forward each year to Mary's legendary Christmas morning brunch and evening dinners. The brunch always includes a grits casserole that includes two kinds of French cheese that I can't spell OR pronounce. Supper must include Yorkshire pudding.
BTW, all of the kids will be home this Christmas (although not necessarily at the same time). Enjoy these days with the whole Osler clan in one place -- they're fleeting, it seems in retrospect.
Blessings,
Bob

Will there be any impromptu Unitarian dancing while your Mom is cooking breakfast?

I always make my famous slaw.

Fake! Only the real IPSlawGuy would know that I don't make slaw, I pee it!

Every Christmas Eve,those of my ten brothers and sisters who lived at home (my oldest sister got married when I was five, and my older brothers served missions one after another for ten years or so and started getting married within a few years of getting home) would gather with our parents around the Christmas tree. We'd be in our Christmas pajamas. And starting with the youngest, we would each choose a Christmas song to sing. But we couldn't choose "Silent Night." That one was reserved for Dad.

After we sang, Dad would read Luke 2. Then we would have family prayer and go to bed.

I've started that tradition with my own family now.

Craig--

That's a great tradition. Like many of us, you are blessed by those who raised you, and by God.

Merry Christmas my friend. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers. You guys are special. Keep spreading the love.

JJ
