Haiku Friday Tonight, All Right!

First of all, the winner of the joke contest is Eustace Tilley (pictured here-- and who, like me, has a Feb. 21 birthday), with this gem:

Why do we have war?

It's God's way to teach Americans geography.

Now, onto haiku! Mmmm... I'm still mulling over the most intense political week we have ever had here on the Razor. I think politics sometimes isn't that important, but know that governing is, and you can't get to one without the other. We need some political haikus, probably.

Here are some suggested topics for today:

1) Balloon Bates
2) Palin
3) Biden
4) Obama
5) McCain
6) Puppies
7) Auto repair
8) Best Texas barbecue
9) Dallas restaurants
10) IPLawGuy

Here is mine:

Thanks, IPLawGuy!
Your words helped us all, but....
Palin creeps me out.

Now it is your turn Razorites. And there will be a prize! Another toy!

Comments:
I have a puppy
His name is Chewbacca II

Fascism versus
Socialism...I hate not
getting the last word.

Palin, blah. Biden,
blah. Obama and McCain?
Should I write in Newt?

Yes! Write in Newt G.!
Tell your friends to do that, too.
Obama thanks you.

Palin is scary
But what creeped me out more was
Seeing Tom DeLay!

And was that Cheney
Lurking out in the shadows?
My blood ran cold, man.

What happened to the
OLD Republican Party?
Of Ford, Dole and Ike?

He lurks sullenly.

Republicans think
That money is everything, and
Democrats think that

Money solves everything.
Both are wrong. Loving money
Is the soul's poison.

Throwing money and
Growing government can't cure
Poverty or crime.

Self-control, love of
Family, Neighbors, and Country,
Service, Selflessness,

Humility. These cure.
Most disdain them and wait
For the government

To feed, clothe, and cure.
Absurd! The True solution
Is to change our hearts.

Koffee Kup Kafe's Klan connections? Now there's a something new -- a "rural legend" as opposed to an "urban legend" ...
I'm from Meridian and I never heard that.
All I know is that it still has some of America's best soul food.

P.S. I ate in a restaurant in Manhattan last week that has reputed Mob ties. It was still great.

But seriously, that did happen. The gf (who is Mexican but looks Indian/Southeast Asian, especially with her nose stud in) and I were eating in there during hunting season, and a man in a camo jacket walked by our table, looked straight at my girlfriend and said, "We don't need any [expletive deleted] Ay-rabbs in this town."

We left very shortly after; nothing against Cooper's ownership, which I'm sure do not share their patrons' prejudices, but that incident really put me off. What worries me, however, is that apparently this guy couldn't distinguish between Arabic people and Indian people. His hatred seemed to be aimed at anyone with darker skin than him.

So I'll stick to the County Line.

Dang! That sure burst my bubble, about Cooper's and the Hill Country in general. I happened upon Cooper's completely by accident, on a solo driving trip through the Hill Country. I liked the fare so much that I ordered a TON of food for Father's Day, and had it shipped up here to the Northeast.

Guess I'll put away the baseball cap I bought, and probably won't order from them any more.

Shame, too.
