Poetry Fusillade, pt 23: Rustic Cabins Tavern

When he was old
And I was young
Kerouac drank nightly
Just a block away.

I peered in the windows
Into a cave of bears-
Pool table, beers signs,
Four or five men,
The remnant of days.

Comments:
is that a real place?

yes. it is a bar in Grosse Pointe Park. Kind of near this place known as "the cabbage patch" but I have no idea why it was called that.. but a lot of young professionals had duplexes there. Its kind of a cool area. Kerouac really did hang out there when he either married or dated a girl from Grosse Pointe.

The bar I liked the best in GP, when I went to bars, which was only occasionally, was Marge's. it is also near the "cabbage Patch" area. I liked that place. It was a goofy little hole in the wall with not too bad music, sometimes live, and really terrible bathrooms.
