Hot Haiku Friday!

It's August in Texas, and I'm back in it. For haiku today, there is only one subject, and it's a traditional one: "What I did on my summer vacation."

Here is my entry:

Ate many burgers
Some burned, some raw, all good
Many with cheddar.

Now it is your turn...

Comments:
Wandered London streets.
Much art, many buildings, pubs,
And raunchy puppets.

Entered the real world.
Learned I will no longer have
Summer vacations.

I went to Europe.
Dollar at historic lows.
Coffee was six bucks.

Driving country roads.
Consuming plump blackberries,
Cicadas singing!

Mourned my Father
Life taken too soon, for him,
And also for me.

No vacation, just
work. Sometimes I leave early.
That is pretty sweet.

Summer's not over!
Will wear shorts till September,
And maybe later.

Took the Bar Exam
Graduated from law school
Now I clean our house.

Law profs and students!
Come to the mixer Thursday!
After Midnight plays!
RFDIII

Wilson and George Bush
Two Arrogant Idealists
History will Judge

History repeats:
Strategy trumps principles
Nixon and Clinton

Reagan, FDR
Maybe even Washington
Temprament beats smarts.

(I know these have nothing to do with summer, but I was thinking about them during political mayhem day yesterday)

Longest summer of
My life. Goat farm, homelessness,
Hotels. Take me home.

new job, new city,
no more car. sticky bus rides.
still, happy here.

New job, new city,
Old country, two languages
at work; feels just right.

I love the Army
Three months in Oklahoma
Beautiful Fort Sill

Got lost on Land Nav
Thank God I'm not Infantry
Must read map better

Lots of ruck marches
4 miles and 6 miles okay
10 too far to go

Hundred-degree heat
Body armor and helmet
Only made it worse

July 25
One of best days of my life
Goodbye to Fort Sill

Got a root canal
Toured Graceland (white trash mecca!)
Wrote this haiku late
