Bar Results! Congrats New Lawyers!

First Time Takers, July 2007 exam:

1. Baylor 97.85%

2. SMU 92.44%

3. Houston 91.83%

4. TWU 91.14%

5. So. Texas 91.12%

6. Texas Tech 91.01%

7. Texas 89.55%

8. St. Marys 86.57%

9. TSU 65.32%

Congrats to JJS and everyone else who passed! Overall, a good showing for Baylor and Texas Wesleyan, which seems to be moving up. University of Texas, 7th out of 9. Ouch. Notably, though, with a few more people passing UT would have been up in the top three.

Comments:
I'm so glad I wasn't 'that one guy' because although Baylor does do a great job of preparing us, the bar exam is certainly no walk in the park and there but for the grace of God go I. Now I will be cancelling my week-long hotel reservation in late February, but for the very small percent who are going to round two - next time you nail it - no doubt!

Going to a small school like BU has some advantages and some disadvantages. After viewing the list today it was obvious who the 2 people were and it just makes me sick b/c I know both of them. Both of them worked very hard while in school and were never slackers. My heart goes out to both of them. I pray they have the courage to go take the February exam and not give up on their dreams.

Congratulations Bar Passers! It's not fair that California makes me wait an extra 2 weeks!

P.S. Tupperware Man is a can't-lose Halloween costume, for all of you that still have post-Halloween costume parties to attend.

So, the overall pass rate was around 90%. Was Bar/Bri better this time or what?

Congrats to all!!! Good luck to those who will need it again. As inspiration/consolation, I know a guy who just made it on try # 4. Perserverance pays.

And I thought I was definitely back in Feb after seeing that first essay question...YEAH!!!!

I am very grateful today for Baylor and know that those with sad nights tonight will pass with flying colors in February.

congrats to the awesome entering class of fall 2004!

I'm curious why UT is closer to the bottom than the top.

Once upon a time in the summer of 2006, I was clerking at a court w/ a UT law student. Shortly before the July bar, she was remarking how Baylor's bar passage rate was not very good. To clear up her misconception I showed her the passage rates on the TX Board of Law Examiners website. I pointed out that we were generally the top in the state, by far and above UT. Her hurried reply was simply that, "well UT doesn't teach to a test."

I found this to be a curious response since barely 60 seconds had gone by from the time when she believed Baylor had a low passage rate.

My reply to her was to inquire, "in exactly what jurisdiction is the restatement of torts the law?"

Haha, whorns got pwned.
