Celebrate the end of Practice Court exercises!

I'm at my desk, breathing a huge sigh of relief. This afternoon was the very last day of seven weeks of practice court exercises, for 3-6 hours every afternoon. The exercises aren't boring or unimportant-- quite the opposite-- but, it is tiring to be "on" for that long at a time, offering critiques the whole way.

When it is over, though, there is a reward. Through their hard work, the students always, always get better, and by the third minitrial the change is most apparent. That was certainly true in the session I saw today.

Congratulations to all those who are done, and thanks for all of your hard work-- it really does make my job worthwhile.

Comments:
I will note that noting prepares you for a misdemeaor trial as a prosecutor like the PC minitrials do. Basically, you've had 6 months of training before you even start; six months ahead of all the other prosecutors. Considering you are generally thrown to the wolves your first day or week as a prosecutor, you end up suprising everyone with how much you know and can do your first time out.

I celebrate the end of PC every day.

But would still love to visit--just don't want to live there.

Congratulations to all. Grad school is just HARD. But worth it. And think of all the great material you have for future blog posts once you're alumni.
