Haiku Winners Announced! Oregon and DC Celebrate!

There was a ton of great Haiku last week, and picking winners was tough. Not too tough, though. I had to declare a tie between the clever wordsmith Tied2Bleach and evocative master of horror TradeLawGuy.

If you missed it, here was Tied's winner, which subtly alluded to the freak of nature that was the band Asia, featuring Steve Howe:
Howe could you do it
In the Heat of the Moment
bad things can happen

Below is TradeLawGuy's effort:
Going home from work
Standing on Metro platform
Underwood? Dear God!

Heart beats much faster
But will he know who I am
Already standing

Walk past him quickly
Excuse me Mr. Tradelaw
Please explain Erie

Sweat begins to pour
Brain becomes very confused
Wake up! It's a dream!

Three years from Waco
Still haunted by that place
But better for it.

Comments:
Wow! I won the Haiku contest!! Hooray for me. What do I get - (1)a Baylor sippy cup, (2) an autographed photo of Osler, or (3) forgiveness on my student loan debt? I vote for #3. My address is on file with the office...

Congratulations, too, to Tyd, who deserves so much more than a Haiku victory.

Your address is on file as "Tradelawguy?"

Thanks for the kudos
Feels good conquering Asia
Honor to be Tied

Come on Osler, you know who I am right? You did that reverse IP lookup thing, no? Anyway, I think there are, oh, five Baylor Law grads in DC, only two of whom are likely candidates for being me. Google us, ask Kat, or better yet, ask ":B"

I thought you told us you had figured out that Tradelawguy was Michael Brown, formerly of FEMA.

I would love to take credit for the ASIA haiku that I have no idea what it is about but it was the work of my husband who calls himself
TIED2bleach. I think Bill's talent for haiku comes from the fact that he is a pun master.... which annoys me to no end. I am so grateful that he now has joined the Razor too, so that he has an outlet for his puns, and other people who will get all of his obscure music references.

If you ever want to know ANYTHING about music I swear ask Bill... But I am TYDWbleach, though I am forever tied to TIED2.

Now if you want to know about figure skating, needlepoint, or realllly bad cooking... that would be me.

Yes, I caught that after I hit "Publish." Apologies to you, your husband, Spencer, Donut, the dog, the psycho neighbors in Pleasantville, or the gas company. Please don't send Donut after me...

Hey, did anyone else notice that "Donut" walked into that diner at the very end of the Sopranos last episode?

No, but I saw him reach from the back seat and release the parking brake on that SUV

"Bye-Bye, Paw-Paw!"

Donut is many things but I doubt he is a murderer..... at least not until third grade.......

oops that last one was from me... about Donut being a murderer. I think if Donut had to be a person from the Sopranos he would probably be Paulie Walnuts.

I always missed FURIO after he left. I think he and Carmela were true soulmates. I wish that she would have take all of that cash out of the bird food holder thing and just left Tony for Furio. They could have moved to Italy, get a place together, maybe make olive oil or goat cheese or something. Or raise Alpacas. He could get a real job and stop killing people, She could maybe lose the fake nails.... Instead he goes away forever, and she ends up eating onion rings in New jersey.

That part kinda sucked. I even had their "Couple name (like BRANGELINA)" picked out... CARMURIO or maybe FURMELA.
