I got rid of the French

Through the application of a very small amount of force and the promise of Hostess King Don snack cakes, I was able to capture my blog back from the French. I would like to apologize to anyone who was offended by their posts, including the Chateauroux soccer team, Donut, and IPLawGuy. I believe that Jacques ("Rocky") Cenlouvre and his daughters are going to set up their own blog-- apparently they did not realize it was free.

In the meantime, I was busying myself with other disputes...

Hey that box office reminds me of the old cheap theater down on 9 mile and mack you know? the Shores maybe? It was that nutty little place to see like second run movies where the seats were kind of Mushy and worn and soft and the floor was always vaguely sticky? and it always smelled like burned popcorn? DId you ever go there ? You know I get the GP News online and I read that they are re doing it and now its gonna be all jazzed up. How sad that will be nice but I like the sticky floors. They remind me of the Phi Kappa Psi house at Beloit. I know a lot of stuff is old and broken but do they have to re do EVERYTHING?

We are trying to decide whther to take SPencer to the Aquarium, OMSI the Children's museum or the Zoo today.

Or maybe keep cleaning out more stuff from the house. nah Who wants to do that? But the sooner we do it the sooner we get our lives back..

Today I think about all of the people who do not have any choice about what they will do today... Those people serving all over the world. I wish they could all be at home with their families today. I do not want to start a huge big thing but the war makes NO SENSE to me at all.

The French surrendered?

Typical.

Hey--we in Switzerland do not know what Hostess King Don Snack Cakes are. I've been out of the US too long, obviously. Are they anything like Twinkies? Or do they have something to do with Don King? I imagine packaging with Don King's mop of white hair on the top of a really big Twinkie. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

King Dons-- I think they changed names a lot. At one point they were "King Dongs," and I can see why they changed it from that. My sister once commented that she thought that might now be the name of a reggae band.

Tyd...you must mean the Shores Madrid. This is my favorite memory about that theater. Long, long ago I went to see American Gigolo (the movie with Richard Gere) at the Shores. The theater was packed. This lady sits down in front of us with her Grocery Bags. Yup! And she stays just until she sees Richard Gere totally nude. Then she picks up her grocery bags and leaves. It cracks me up to this day....go to work, go to the grocery store, watch Richard Gere get naked and go home....there's a day!

HAHAHAHAHAHAH Nice work if you can get it, I guess. That place was funny. But the REALLLLLLY old theatre they finally ripped down was The Vogue on Harper in a really crappy neighborhood. I remember going there in like 3d grade and watching Apocalypse Now with my mother. She was a social worker and so even though she had been this like really prissy Delta Zeta 1956 from Albion College, she always went into these really horrible neighborhoods and she was rarely ever afraid. So that place was like Bloomfield Hills to her.. There was a weeeeiird guy there watching that movie He had a beverage in a brown bag, was smoking a funny sort of cigarette and not only that he was yelling at the screen and mumbling a lot. Something about his outfit told my mother that he also might have served in Vietnam. I did NOT get that movie at all but then I was 8 or something, but all I remember is like a cow being sawed in half.

I would get bored and look up at the ceiling and there were all of these water stains from like when the roof leaked and there were these round weird lights kind of like a life preserver on a boat.

its weird what you remember when you are a kid
