Orientation/Commencement Weekend

Hey, orientation is coming up on Friday! I love doing orientation-- seeing the new students coming in, anxious and eager (and a little scared, perhaps).

It is also bittersweet that the day after orientation and the bringing in of the new students is commencement and the graduation of some of my favorite grizzled veterans. That flux is part of the great part of teaching, but also emotionally challenging. I miss people when they leave.

Comments:
You must really miss old "Miss Red Eyes" and her date a lot. I think I have seen this picture before.

That must be hard, though, saying goodbye to students every year.

I think I just grizzled all over my Crim Prac exam.

Are you going to tell the incoming class about your internet poker interests?

See

No. I won't.

AHA, so that's why you kept asking about "The River" tile when we were playing scrabble. The whole "ante up" concept makes more sense now as well.

"Father Puckett" will be attending graduation for those interested

Along with other family types

When did Eli go to law school?

Do you have the picture right after that one where he overthrew the trash can by 12 yards?

The trash can did NOT run the route it was supposed to.

Can you tell me what Eli Manning, MGD, and my ex-girlfriend have to do with coming and going?

No, wait don't answer that. I get it now.

Swanburg-- Did you correctly identify the brand of beer just through part of an obscured neck label? Wow.

OMG. He frats hard.

Some things in life go without saying, two of those being Bates’ career in pro-foosball and Eli drinking MGD.

We are talking about Eli Manning here and when you are Eli Manning you do two things and two things only:
1) Use the pick up line, “I’m Peyton’s brother.”
2) Drink the champagne of beers.

So no, it wasn’t just the clear bottle, black label combo that tipped me off and of all people, I’m offended you think this. As you well know, a cursory inspection of any image, say for example, Caravaggio’s “David Holding the Head of Goliath” or Basquiat’s “Worthy Constituents” reveals only so much as shapes and colors.

A true appreciation of any image requires analysis, context and deep introspection.

Miller Highlife is the Champagne of Beers.
MGD is just beer
