Winner, winner, Wienerschnitzel dinner!
P. Rico has ruled, and his ruling is final. The winner of last week's Haiku contest was Swissgirl, for this entry:
Things change and change back;
Twelve years one, twelve the other;
Sounds like Yeats, not Bush.
Congratulations, Swissgirl. The impressive literary allusion to Yeats and his devices put you over the top.

May I suggest a topic for this Friday? You must include at least one word from a language other than the one that the haiku is written in. For example:
Saying Gesundheit
Is the polite thing to do,
When Yeats sneezes too.
I guess we could call it "Code-switching" Friday as well.
(BTW, loved the prize winning haiku. I just have to try harder next time.)

People, these haikus are better than the ones you wrote on Friday! Perhaps I need to come up with a better prize...
You know, when it was only you who wrote the haiku, it was just unique, or when it was two people, it seemed like an interesting thing to do, but now that you have everyone doing it, I think it's a movement. Excellent!
Thanks, everybody. I like the schadenfreude and gesundheit references, and the medievalist's suggestion for this Friday. I think it's a challenge . . .
