My Weekend Plans

I have been chewing away on the PR finals this week, and they aren't so bad. I will get a break this weekend, though, as I travel to Notre Dame to attend the meeting of a new group called "Evangelicals and Catholics Together on Law." The idea is to gather 16 Catholics and 16 Protestants to talk about faith and legal issues. I feel like the admission department's mistake-- the other participants include Bill Stuntz and Mary Ann Glendon of Harvard, John Coughlin and Rick Garnett of Notre Dame, and even Chuck Colson, among other notables.

I'm thinking of getting a haircut first.

The good news is that it is supposed to be bitterly cold, with snow and sleet making travel nearly impossible-- which to me is the way December is supposed to be.

Comments:
Yeah, I love winter when she's young and vigorous. The temp drops to zero, the snow and sleet howl around your ears. Reminds you what winter is really all about, which is not 75F and sunny. Say hi to Colson--we go way back to our plumber days.

Please share with the panel the story I told you about a BU law Prof. His quote will always stick with me:

(Professor speaking to a fellow student who was discussing a case for the class) "Morals? You think the attorney did what he did in this case because that was the "moralistic" thing to do? You are in wrong school buddy. The seminary is across the street."

=)

Don't cut the hair. You'll lose your power. Plus short hair will only lend support to the theory of Baylor as the Marine Corps law school.

Give my regards to the Irish while you're there. And be sure to talk about last weekend's football game at 'SC as much as possible. They'll love that.

will it be cold enough for me to wear my ski jacket tomorrow?

Have fun! (and yeah, dont cut the hair).

Martha-- It is supposed to be under 80 degrees, so you better break out the complete ski outfit, including mittens and stocking cap.

If you'll be there after the Rose Bowl pairing is announced, would you do me favor and if Notre Dame is selected for the Rose Bowl, could you just grab a random Domer and punch him in the face?

Signed,
A bitter LSU fan who has the distinct sense his team is about to get screwed.

All this football talk reminds me to point out that my Alma Mater's football team (and our host's)was mentioned in a NATIONAL publication today:

We made the Onion? That's as good as it gets, man...

That A&M-Rice rivalry description was funny as hell.

Oddly, W & M v. JMU is actually a real rivalry. I think they played in the Div. I-AA semis last year, and they are in the same league, the Poindexter Conference.

Yes, the soon to be featherless tribe does indeed play the JMU Dukes every year, including the NCAA IIA Semifinals in 2004 under the lights and on ESPN2. We lost.

But my favorite student borne sign read "JMU was my safety school"

AAAAHHHH! It dipped to freezing today...there is ice falling from the sky. I don't know whether to hide or get out a martini glass. Help!

You put ice in a martini? I could understand that if there were olives falling from the sky...
