A Little Haiku for Friday...

It's the holiday weekend, blogging is light, but still... traditions are traditions. And the prizes are fabulous. This week's prize is a Christmas Music CD which contains some surprises. He he.

Since I only anticipate a few entries, maybe I will win this week? Here's my effort:

May not teach Swanburg,
Shot by a jealous husband
Well before PR.

Put your own below. It doesn't necessarily have to be about Swanburg, who apparently is now accusing me of messing with his stuff, though he's disguising it by using the long word "vituperative."

Comments:
just two days at home
gone from lawyer to Linus
"not proud or tired."

Quiet haiku front,
with classes vacant today.
Seems there'd be more time.

Unless--can it be?
The winners penned between Snoods,
while prof carries on.

No turkey, no pie
No yummy yummy sweet yams
Is this thanksgiving?

I wish that I could
teleport home for dinner
being grownup sucks.

Oh well I will live
pumpkin latte from starbucks
almost fills the void

Turkey-day is gone
But the turkey it remains
What to do with it?

Experiments yikes
Turkey enchiladas bad
What was dad thinking?

Don't think he'll stop now
He's back at the drawing board
Turkey please run out!

“Ode to Thanksgiving”

Four day interlude
Laying supine on the couch;
Shamelessly drooling

“Surprise”

Three AM blogging;
Wake confused at eleven
I thought I dreamt that.

“Wednesday at Crickets”

Strictly liable
But rarely prosecuted;
Still wouldn’t risk it.

Coyote Ugly
Please come back to the back lot
My car needs a jump.

With Thanksgiving gone
Now Christmas decorating
Please, stop the madness!

November not cold
Thought that was just for Phoenix
Wanting white Christmas

Orphaned law student
No home for the holidays
Just me and my bird

A Thanksgiving Haiku?

Pumpkin pie, turkey,
Mashed potatoes and cranberries,
Gewürztraminer.

Or "Ode to a Border Collie"

Black and white you are
Fuzzy and rambunctious, too,
Cold nose and warm heart.

A Lego Haiku:

Chaos at my plate,
Too many choices and no heads,
My pieces make no sense.

He “hearts” your mother -
The sick little man he is.
Lock your doors tonight!

Listening to Clem.
Drunkard in a barber’s chair.
Stay still, damn it! Still!

Bright blue leotards.
Step-classes from the eighties.
Way too much spandex.

Cotton Leg Warmers.
Girls, what are they needed for?
To make Flashdance hot?

"Ode to Swanburg"

Lives passionate life
Readers vicariously
Drink, dare, laugh, and love

"Soul Food Thanksgiving"

Fried turkey, cornbread
Chitlins, grits, yams, blackeyed peas
collard greens, bourbon

Gravy turned to goo.
Dinner was so delicious
Time for turkey Stew.

Vegetarians
On this day eat Tofurkey
Scary loaf of soy

You stole Tofurkey!
My favorite Thanksgiving joke-
No soup for you, Tyd!

I couldn't get Wii
On Wednesday because they had
Sold out in 5 min'tes

(Incorrect grammar due to too many syllables)

Haiku? On a day off?
For me a noble pursuit
With my rake and leaves

Law School Thanksgiving
No rest for me. Hard at work
at Dad's rental store

Fear Not, Mark Osler.
"Whole Paycheck" sells Tofurkey.
Orzo Salad RULES.

Turkey Day: At Work
Serving drinks to the masses
Were the Pilgrims Drunks?

Here's a life lesson:
observe barflys on turkey day.
rejoice! You're not them.

"6 to 8 black men"
a David Sedaris tale
you'll laugh 'til you pee

you will find that tale
on "Live at Carnegie Hall"
well worth your money
