A moment with Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter had a profound affect on my life. In 2008, he came to a talk I gave. Afterwards, he rose and instead of praising me, he challenged me to do more. He was right, and I took his criticism to heart. He was a good man for our world, and a Great Man to me.

I described that in my book "Prosecuting Jesus." Later, I wrote to him and told him that, and he wrote me back.

Comments:
Mark, such a lovely tribute to both you and to President Carter.

Craig-- My parents were there, and at the time I was kind of shocked at his kind take-down, but I came to really appreciate it!

President Carter was a deeply principled man of deep faith. He always aspired to do the right, just thing. And he accomplished much to that end in his Presidency. I trust he saw a kindred spirit in you. Read Heather Cox Richardson’s letter to an American today about Carter. Such a stark contrast to what is coming our way.
