The Lincoln Project
Most people have stumbled on the Lincoln Project one way or another by now-- they are a very prolific group of anti-Trump Republicans who have run a series of scathing ads. One of the leaders is George Conway, the husband of Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway.
It really seems like no one is agnostic on Trump-- there is a core group of people who love him and always will, and a lot of others who are very ready to boot him out. I run into very few folks who shrug and say "I guess he has some good ideas, and some bad ones."
The issue, of course, has as much to do with personality as anything else. Usually, that doesn't matter much to me. But at this point, aspects of his personality seem to be leading him away from what he should be doing-- creating, framing, and promoting a national strategy to combat the coronavirus.

He would have to admit that he erred in not taking more aggressive steps earlier, which is also an admission of a failure on his part. He is more allergic to any admission of error causing problems, than anything else. He needs someone to blame, and people are not really buying the China thing, given we had a couple of months' notice and time to prepare. And the fact that most of the NYC infections originated from Europe, rather than China.

You give him far too much credit for having an intelligent functioning brain. This pandemic is so far beyond him. If he can't self-promote he really doesn't care.
He has done everything that he promised to do when he was elected per Michael Steele on Morning Joe last week). He has burned the entire institution of the Presidency to the ground. Everything we have hold sacred about the office; the protocol, respect, the formality of how we lead in the world; all of it gone.
He has sown chaos wherever he has gone in his life. It is Donald's way or the highway and he knows what buttons to push to get his way and to get people to just give up (threat of endless lawsuits). He sucks the life out of the room.
About the 150,000+ corona virus deaths his response to Jonathan Snow was "it is what it is".
Hopefully we can survive another 92 days and 'chaotically' vote him out of office along with all the grifters that he brought with him.
