He's in! He's Trump! Does it matter?

Donald Trump has 0 percent chance of being President of the United States. He is in the bottom tier of a big and impressive slate of candidates vying for the GOP nomination. However, I am loathe to say Trump does not matter. He is definitely charismatic. He is big and bold. He is articulate in his own way. Ironically, he comes off as a genuine populist and seems more resonate in his common man critiques than any one else in the field. For these reasons he will make an impression on this race.
I am guessing Forbes is right and Trump is exaggerating his wealth (an old habit): http://www.forbes.com/sites/erincarlyle/2015/06/16/trump-exaggerating-his-net-worth-by-100-in-presidential-bid/
But having said that, even if he only has $4.5B in assets and is willing to spend a couple hundred mil on the campaign, taken with his amazing ability to generate free publicity (which, in my mind, is even more astounding than his ability to accumulate wealth), he will definitely enjoy a prodigious national platform.

He's a goof. But he will attract attention and by sheer bombast force other candidates to respond to his nonsense. The trick for the purported front runners, who seem to be Scott Walker and JEB Bush, will be how to stay out the way without looking arrogant.
