You indicateda few days ago that an article would be forthcoming. I expected it to be good. It was better than good.
I do not practice in the criminal field, but as with most "kibitzers," have a wide range of other-than- expert and, perhaps, shallow opinions. One is:
In general, in far too many cases, even for violent crimes, sentences seem to be too "stiff," that is "too long," and therefore counterproductive.
I don't follow your blog or writings religiously, and you may have addressed this issue somewhere. But, in summary, what are your views?

I don't think that sentences for violent crimes are generally too long, but do feel that narcotics sentences are often too long and do not solve a problem despite their expense. And yes, I've written about that...
