Stuff to Read!
If you feel a little serious, take a look at my piece yesterday over at Sojourners-- suggesting that maybe we Christians should see the failure in Newtown as one of evangelism.
However, if you are feeling a little too serious, check out The Onion's annual Cheap Toy Round-up. It's just... awesome.

Happy Holidays!
Before I silence my Internet Explorer for the next four days, I wish to share an encounter I had, in the town where I grew up, six days before the tragic events of Newtown. I met Kylie for the first time. She is a daughter of the young elementary ed teacher who reached out to me and set in motion my unexpectedly attending my high-school reunion.
Two days in the presence of precocious Kylie and my Christmas gift giving plans were changed completely - remnants from my summer home renovation project where crafted into the simple gifts sent and given to new friends and old.
Time management became a crisis, though I savored every step of the craft process while rewinding and replaying treasured memories from the year past.
In verse, my reflections became my Christmas letter.
May all of you savor each 'Heavenly Moment' of the Season. Peace, Love, Joy, Health and Laughter at Christmas and throughout the New Year. . .
The Days Before Christmas
Twas only days before Christmas and my head was in a spin.
Greeting cards all not written. My holiday plans – soon to be done in?
The runs in my stockings, from my toes to my thighs,
Dashed hope that St. Nicholas wouldn’t see tears in my eyes.
With my children all grown, still so much yet did I dread.
Anxiety’s swells were rising, Christmas plans filling my head.
A dash to my closet, flannel pajamas did I wear,
And dove beneath the covers, intent to remain forever there.
The whispers in my head grew louder – such a clatter…
My Better Angels were saying, “Smile, does it really matter.”
The cover’s silhouette formed, appeared as a blanket of new-fallen snow.
Sniffles and tears wiped dry, soon did I realize that indeed it was so.
The past year’s grace and blessings made it most crystal clear.
Recalling treasured memories brings all Christmas cheer.
An unexpected visit to share a peaceful moment with mom and dad,
Became a most surprising meeting, I will be forever grateful and glad.
Two of God’s Angels, Nikki and Cole,
Ventured on over and played a leading role.
Gathering as family, loved ones and friends, new and old,
Gives meaning to the Christmas story long ago first told.
A ‘Babe’ born in a manger became the perfect light,
An example often needed for our love to ignite.
As brilliant and bright as the love our Lord has shown,
His everlasting light is the greatest love ever known.
Bright Holiday Blessings to All,
With Love,
Christine
