Haiku Friday: What didya eat?

The day after Thanksgiving; let's reflect on the food. What did you eat? I'll go first:

Brined, perfect bird
I cut it and fell back; oh!
That heavenly scent.

Now it is your turn! 5/7/5 is the syllable count, and the winner gets a bio here on Monday.

  1. Deep fried turkeys. Are
they good? I don't know. They were
    gone when my turn came.

    But I am thankful
    for jalapeno "stuffing",
    and warm pecan pie.

  3. My cranberry sauce

    New job in Waco, Texas
    All nights, holidays

    A young reporter
Police beat: Crooks stay at home
    On Thanksgiving Day

    A young reporter
    His first Thanksgiving alone
    A good lesson

    I vowed that no one
    Would be alone Thanksgiving
    If I could help it

    Mary and I have kept
That big promise when we could
    Since that gray evening

    And the meals? All great
    Regardless of the details
    Because of that vow!

  8. The pumpkin begged
    To be anointed with mace,
    Sliced for pilgrim mouths.

    Corn pudding tempered
    With flour,substantial not light
    Or flighty,souffled.

    Belgique sprouts not French
    Invite panacetta to melange
    And onion to dance betwixt.

    Angels baked pecan
    With brown sugar and eggs,in
    Loving cups of crust.

    Beans being green,thin
Like silk strings strung almond and
    Held captive by beurre.

    Potatoes mashed gloss
    Creamily buttered almost
    Seafoam,I drown glad.

    Orange child-loathed peak
Even they grow fond of you,
    Of the plated Mount.

    So they sat,babes held,
    Hands held,savoring each bite
    Thankful for it all.

  9. Four veggies: Kale pie,
    broccoli, winter squash and
    peas with pancetta.

    Don't worry: we had
    Turkey, mashed potatoes and
    lots of stuffing too.

    Afterwards, there was
    Apple pie and pumpkin pie
    with ice cream on top.

  10. First time without the
    Family. Instead, broke bread
    With stranded comrades.
