Haiku Friday: Mother's Day

Sunday is Mother's Day. I really need not look any further than that for today's topic.

You can haiku about your own Mom (a favorite moment, maybe), or someone who acted like a Mom to you, or even the experience of being a Mom.

Here is mine:

It was one A.M.
I found her downstairs, reading
Shakespeare's Henry V.

Now it is your turn. Don't worry too much about syllable counts, just make it three short lines (unless your Mom is a stickler...)

Comments:
Being a mother
Alters your soul, shifts your heart
And softens your touch.

Being a Mom
Doesn't look so hard
Lots of sleeping.

Swiss miss dignity
Rode the edge of his anger
I keen for your arms.

"Pretty Baby" sung
So sweet,sassy rings now
In my heart,O Mama!

Thank you for the chance to write and feel it,Mark.

I want to be her
When I grow up. I hope my
Husband doesn't mind.

The Peace Corps was wrong.
Motherhood is the toughest
Job I've ever loved.

... and oh, do I love it.

My mom taught me stuff
Firing a gun, makin' stuff up,
Spotting Putin's head.

A strong sense of self,
Smart, funny, and interesting,
My favorite person.

(and yes, she's a stickler)

I can't fill his shoes;
and you don't expect me to -
yet, you mourn your son.

Ok - that was too sad. May I write another, more silly one?

She's not my sister!
23 years my elder -
My lovely mother.

People say : you’ll forget the eyes you don’t see.
But it’s not true, I close mine and
Her blue stare, soft around the edges
Makes my heart melt into tears.

No one tells you just
how funny your kid will be.
Cracks us up, each day.

My mom had a sad
life. All I want to do is
make Spencer feel loved.

My mom's perfect role:
Mrs. Darling in "Peter Pan."
She wasn't acting.

O, lovely mama
you are gone and all the things
never learned with you.

Welcome smile always
offering, ready heart. Music
her air, family her life.

The person in my life
who can make the sun come out
at night. Love you, Mom!

Apple,Butterscotch
Lemon meringue,apricot
Wee son won't run,Mom's pie.

Her bold journey to
America’s promised land
still inspires lives

She's not afraid
Of anything, he says
Except her mother.

My mother shows me
I should never stop learning
how to be better.
