In the Shadow of the Capitol
Today is one of those days when I feel displaced-- thrust into not only a place but a persona that is different than I have in Waco.
I'm pondering what tie to wear. I don't usually worry about that, but right now I am.
What is the right tie for meetings and court? Give me fashion advice.

depends on what kind of suit you are wearing, but for court. I personally don't think much comes off better than a solid color tie. A strong red or blue, depending on your mood can set the tone you wish to bring.
As for your pieces of flair, I suggest you go with diagonal stripes but on a thick fabric so that it doesn't look cheap.

My standard dress is black suit, blue dress shirt, and a blue, grey and white tie, in a simple repeating pattern. Quiet and unassuming.
Geez, I would have let you borrow mhy tie that the hostess at the restaurant liked so much yesterday if you had asked.
I also have, right here in my office, a couple baseball themed ties. CJ Roberts and Justices Scalia and Stevens are baseball fans.

You have too many striped ties. You need to broaden your selection. GWB wore a lot of nice ties perhaps he can give you some since he doesn't have to dress up very often. You need something in a nice medium blue print.
