Movie Reviews on the Razor!
1) American Carol
Rated R for graphic sexual content, nudity. Ever wonder what happened to Carol Brady? This movie reveals her life after Mike's grisly death, Jan's conviction at trial, Peter's shocking revelation, and Marcia's wedding. Now in her 70's, Carol still does things the Brady way! Not previewed for the press.
2) Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist
Rated R for bad driving, band names. This teen-based romantic comedy is almost entirely comprised of reckless driving (even without a single chase scene) and people trying to be heard over loud music in bars. Stars Michael Cera, cutting against type as a nerdy, good-hearted young man.
Ok, the truth is that I haven't been to a lot of movies. I did go to the Baylor football game today, though. That was kind of painful. I'll just say that Oklahoma is very, very good, and that Baylor is better than we have been (but still not nearly as good as Oklahoma).

The game was painful, yes, but doesn't Robert Griffin getting 100+ yards rushing against the OU defense give you a glimmer of hope for the future? I figure there's no hope of victory in this year, so I'm watching games with an eye towards building blocks, and as far as those go, Griffin looks like a cornerstone to me. If the Bears recruit well, they could build a really solid team around him. After all, Griffin's only a freshman!

That, plus he didn't get sacked a lot, which means we have a decent o-line. I think the defense really struggled-- which you would expect against this Oklahoma team.
Baylor is fun to watch, even when they lose, and that in itself is a great change to see.

Osler I am surprised you and Iplaw (in different cities I realize) did not run out and see Flash of Genius. It is about the guy from Michigan who invented the intermittent windshield wipers and then Ford stole it..
I cannot wait to see it and I would go but I need a sitter and I am knee deep in apples.

Well, he didn't just volunteer to reupholster the couch. He had a place on Gratiot, I think, in East Detroit. It's probably out there in cyberspace-- maybe google "white stripes" and "upholstery."

My mom had a lot of antiques and she used to take her stuff to these two guys The Sunshine Strippers. They were in the same area I think. They were nice...WAY gay but very very nice.
You know, I am not a normal person, not one bit... but I do have this thing, being from Michigan: Whenever I hear Bob Seger I am right back home, right back in high school. I do like his music, but its not like I had like a thing for him.. I mean as a guy he is not that attractive but whatever... but its sort of like... you know growing up it was ALWAYS playing!!! So like I heard it like at least three times a day for like 20 years and now whenever I hear Bob Seger its so weird I am like right back there, at a dance, or a cast party, or a hockey game... just I am somewhere else. Like Star Wars OR Trek you know when they make the person move with that machine thing?
I call it The Bob Seger Reaction. No one else from MI gets this.... not that I know.. Was just wondering if you do.
Maybe its like people from SF bay area and Journey... Maybe they think that Journey is not the best band ever... but they heard it SOOOO much that they get the same reaction....

It was Journey, of course, who referred to the non-existent "South Detroit" on their biggest hit...
As for Seger, it is the same way for me. In fact, I order his best album ("Smokin' OPs") a few years ago, just to feel that thing.

I haven't seen a movie in a movie theater in ages. Iplawife and I did get a sitter and see "Juno" last year. And we saw "Little Miss Sunshine" in 2006. That's about it.
I have a vinyl copy of "Smokin O.P.s" and I can vouch for the Prof's identification with Seger. He once tried to convince me that Seger was equal to, if not superior to Springsteen.
Northern Virginia doesn't really have a "sound," but Dave Navarro of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana is from the area.

Anyway yeah Like I do think Bob Seger IS like a genius... I don't own that album.. but I do have one in my car I thinks it's
like a greatest hits one. One of Bill's friends bought it and burned me a copy as a joke, but I listen to it like EVERY TIME I am in the car. So much so that Bill complains every time he gets in my car it is on.
I have an ipod somewhere. It is pink, but I lost it. Bill still uses his But I remember that when I was into downloading itunes there were NO BOB SEGER songs on itunes. Weird huh?
I am glad to know I am not the only person.

Town Girl was from there, I can see why she took the Midnight Train Going Anywhere. Or was that the City Boy?
