Haiku Friday: Parents Poetry

Ok, I got this thing back from the French again. Sorry about that. My only fear now is that somehow they will team up with the pandas...

Anyways, I would like people to haiku about their parents this week.

Here is mine:

My parents, goofballs
But, the loveable types, and
... he is named "Spike"

Now it is your turn...

Comments:
my dad the mayor
went to Canada for city
now he goes to jail

Growing up, I learned
To make my own family
From those around me.
Today, I can boast
Many wonderful "parents"
Natural, and not.

persecutor in
a black robe, rules
against me

no robbery here
lesser includeds I fear, tho'
my guy left the beer

victim intoxicated
cannot identify my guy
who "kicked his ass"

devil in a black
robe will get him anyway
dang Mary Roman!

The salt of the earth;
and Oklahoma children
Describes my parents

Starting to get past
Adolescent disdain now.
I love Mom and Dad

My parents, products
Of their time and place, tried hard.
Not easy for them

Or, sometimes, for us.
But they loved us, without doubt.
I think they're pleased with

Who they raised, although
Sometimes were surprised: taught us
Independence, then

Got it. Three strong-minded
Girls.

True penny pinchers,
but paid for their to learn,
Depression Babies.

No Comment.. Mine were
flawed, smart, mean, accomplished but
not great parents. Bad.

However, I throw
everything I have into
being a parent.

I have no handbook,
except what NOT to do. So.
I do that. I try.

As for them, they were
weak, mean, unhappy, bitter.
I forgive them for

all they were not. Thus,
they've been rendered impotent,
and I go on, happy.

PS:

Not that we were talking about Gay Marriage, but many gays have children and the ones I know are great and dedicated parents and honestly? I would have taken two gay sane men or two gay sane women full of unconditional love for parents ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over my psychotic, cruel manipulative insane parents.

I'm just saying...

I agree, Tyd . . . I didn't have your same experience, but I know gay couples who are terrific parents and in loving, highly committed relationships . . . I would take that any day over hetero parents who are mean to their kids or neglect their kids.

Married fifty years,
How did they ever do that?
It's a miracle.
