Congratulations Hulitt Gloer!


I'm very lucky in that I get to teach alongside some of my heroes, and one of them is Prof. Hulitt Gloer. Tomorrow morning, Dr. Gloer will be installed as the David Garland Professor of Preaching at Truett Seminary. He richly deserves this honor, and I plan to be there at 9:30 to chime in on the accolades.

I'm sure many of you Razorites have good memories of Prof. Gloer from the Oral Advocacy class-- feel free to share.

I was in the class the year it was held shortly after Prof. Gloer suffered a debilitating stroke. His performance that year was completely remarkable, and I have remembered it often.

Professor Gloer is the kind of person I love to see get honored. He deserves it, and it won't go to his head. And during Oral Advocacy, I learned so much about the Baptist faith and that Mormons and Baptists are more alike than most would like to admit. I count my experience with him as one of the best in my law school experience.

Dr. Gloer is a total hero of mine. He's one of the best professors I ever had and now he's a great pastor for me. He's a prince.

To be sure, an inspiring man and moving speaker. His words captivate and compel respect. Congratulations Professor!

I wasn't able to take the Oral Ad. class, but I sure heard a lot about it, and mostly about Prof. Gloer. He's kind of a legend at the law school by now.

I have never heard a better sermon ont the parable of the Good Samaritan then the serman he gave during the first day of oral advocacy. The depth of knowledge and the sincerity of the message were astounding. I kick myself all the time that I didn't take better notes from his comments, but I was too carried in the story to think about taking notes.

If Prof. Gloer ever published a book with his sermons, I would be first in line to buy.
