Go, Spurs, Go!
Now that the Pistons are out of it, I'm all for the Spurs. Things to like about the Spurs:
1) Other than the Red Wings in Detroit, and maybe the Red Sox, I haven't seen a city so supportive of a team as SA seems to be of the Spurs. With the Spurs being San Antonio's only big-league team, sports fans there have to wait all year for basketball season to roll around. Once it does, they are undistracted.
B) The Cavs at this point seem a little in awe of the Spurs.
3) I think "Spurs" is a pretty fitting name, in a league that also features the "Jazz" in unjazzy Utah, a "Lakers" is desert-y LA, and the "Grizzlies" in Memphis.
4) Tony Parker and Tim Duncan are a great combination.

I don't know if "support" is the right verb or verb combination for the Boston fans' attitude toward the Sawx. A better choice may be "agonize over."
As for ridiculously obsessed fans, Washington Redskins fans are pretty high on the charts, along with followers of the Pittsburgh Steelers

So true on the 'Skins. It gets kind of silly down there...

OK nothing to do with Sports.... but here is a weird item.... The Dad of JonBenet n( whose wife Patsy died last year) and the Mother of natalee hollaway ( whose daughter disappeared in Aruba and just got divorced from her husband... they are DATING.
Its kind of weird and sad but also nice...actually kind of nice really. I am being serious it IS nice... but also funny - if they got married... Maybe Larry King could do the wedding ceremony and Nancy Grace can be the maid of honor? anyway......

Many of us in San Antonio would disavowe Eva because of her mistreatment of local law enforcement, plus the fact that her voice is annoying, and she has old man hands.
The Spurs, though, are a fitting representation of our city: hard-working, laid back, decent folks. Go Spurs Go!!! SWEEP!!!

Yes, you're right -- San Antonio LOVES the Spurs -- Every business has to have a Go Spurs Go sign in their windows come finals time or they will be shunned.
