Corbett Rules! PC works!

Many of my students go on to be prosecutors; a lesser number become defense attorneys. At least in trial, it is the defense attorneys who have the tougher job and win less often. However, David Corbett, who is a public defender in Arizona, won his first trial, using some of the tricks he learned in practice court. Actually, they weren't "tricks," but rather things like "the rules of evidence."

Those of us who know and admire David, or who are in or about to be in PC, should check out his blog for the details.

Sometimes, all that hard work IS worth it.

Comments:
This morning I've had the chance to catch up on the last few days of Razor posts and comments. Its getting so that a day without the Razor is like missing an episode of "LOST". There's a lot going on. I've really admire the witty and thoughtful responses of the Razor community to the recent calamities.
The one short-coming of this type of conversational community is that I feel so compelled to offer some kind of concrete assistance and yet I have nothing tangible to give. I would tell Tyd that I will keep her in my prayers, but I'm a hopeless unbeliever, so that would be insincere.
What's really great is that even in her time of need, Tyd is giving so much of herself to us. She is certainly indulging our somewhat voyeuristic fascination with tragedy. (That sounds more crass than I intend, but I don't know how to put it in any other terms).

Tyd, thank you. We are living vicariously through you. We can only hope to handle our own troubles with half the dignity and humor which you are exhibiting.

If I could make a couple suggestions they would be:

1. That certain Razor readers would reference their legal rolodexes and suggest a good firm in Tyd's area.

2. That maybe some time next spring (March in Minnesota is no fun) Prof. Osler may hold a Razor Reunion (or just union)in Waco.
Or is the anonymity of the process what makes the blog what it is?

Because Corbett doesn't allow anonymous comments, I'll offer my congrats here:

You rock, sir.

We should do the Union during Football season. The Baylor Stadium would appreciate our business.

I am sure his success and everyone's success in later life is totally a result of PC and not their own hard work and initiative.

Making it through PC IS hard work and initiative. Read Corbett's post on his own blog (there is a link)-- that is what he is referring to.
