Osler's Razor Person of the Year
It was a great New Year's Eve here in Georgia. A few Maconites came over, and I have some good conversations, but it was not a late night. Which means today I can drive, drive, drive back towards Waco...
Also, Prof. Bates called at about 11:45 pm. He seemed to be in a great mood-- I think that guy had a pretty good 2006. He definitely is in the running for the Osler's Razor Person of the Year, which will be announced later today.
Here's how you can help with that project: Put your nomination for person of the year in the comment section. And no, it cannot be "you."

I vote for YOU - since you started the blog! Or, Bates, because he's been so game about showing up on the blog multiple times in bondage... or playing with toys... or winning at foosball... Maybe then he won't get you back by making you play foosball against him while you have one hand handcuffed to a lego castle and are spraying artsy graffiti on the bar walls...!

I'm glad someone else noted the Meatloaf/Bonnie Tyler thing. My wife and I actually looked that up this morning. I thought "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was by some whiney female singer and not a guy. (I couldn't have told you which whiney female singer). It's the kind of song that would have my pushing the channel changer on my car radio so fast that anyone who got in the way would be bruised. So I probably never heard his part of the song, except maybe in a bar, where I would have attempted to ignore the whole thing in hopes that a Zeppelin tune would be played next.

total eclipse of the heart is one of the most romantic songs ever. i think you need to give it a second listen with an open mind iplawguy
My idea of a romantic song is "I Love Rock & Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I once held hands with a very pretty girl while roller skating to that song.

The inside story on that one is that the Prof. later dated that woman for a couple of years. I saw her first! But being three years older, I didn't get a chance to get to know her. And being a complete moron when it came to women at age 22, I didn't stand a chance anyhow.
Although I've been to Grosse Pointe, I am definitely not from there. In fact, since I spent almost all of my first 9 years of life in Ohio, I am an Ohio State fan, meaning I would be run out of Grosse Pointe if I did live there.
