The Debate
Did anyone else find that really hard to watch?
I really dislike the overtalking and lack of discipline by the moderators and candidates. The Democrats do not present themselves well when they discuss important issues like that. For a few minutes, it was just Sanders and Buttigieg talking at the same time, like some kind of dada lecture.
On the plus side, Amy Klobuchar actually talked about the plan to take clemency out of the DOJ and create an independent commission-- it's the first time I can remember any clemency proposal being raised at a debate within either party. So huzzah for that!

I did not watch last night. This is Us was preferable viewing after last weeks food fight. Plus I can hear all about it on NPR today.
I didn't watch it either. I thought the previous one in Nevada was exciting and finally got them to differentiate themselves (thanks to the presence of Bloomberg), but it hit the outer limit of lack of civility, for me. Lester Holt and colleagues did a good job of moderating that one.
For someone who is supposed to be the "smart" candidate, Warren appears to be quite foolish politically. Her fixation on Bloomberg makes absolutely NO sense. Once Warren went all in on Medicare for All (an unforced error) her only paths to victory were 1) (she has none now) to take votes from Bernie as the progressive candidate or 2) find new voters. The latter is what EVERY candidate for almost any office promises to do. And with a few rare exceptions like Obama, it NEVER EVER happens. The cross section of primary voters rarely changes.
So She she should have been hammering Bernie on his love for authoritarians, dictators and butchers, his inane stances on everything from legalization of marjijuana (not decriminalization, but outright legalization), guns, free college and his completely ridiculous claims about spending.
Anyone who was considering a vote for Bloomberg is NOT going to shift to her. Bloomberg is only going to appeal to pragmatists, former Republicans and business types. If Mayor Mike is a first choice the second choice for these people will be Biden or Buttigieg or Klobuchar. But NOT Warren. She is picking up ZERO votes by going after Bloomberg.
Political malpractice.
